Pingu: The horror!

Pingu is adorable and he's so fun for teaching English. I put my students into pairs and put a five minute Pingu video on. One student from each pair sits with his/her back to the screen and the other partner carefully explains and describes what is happening.

'Pingu wakes up...he picks up his fishing rod...he says hello to his mother...etc'

But the student describing must insert 3 lies as he/she describes. Afterwards the students who couldn't see the screen get together and confer and retell their versions and try and identify the lies. You can also do this successfully with Mr Bean.

But...the other day someone showed me this...

Pingu's version of The Thing.... The 1982 horror movie directed by John Carpenter. It isn't the full thing but bygolly! I suspect if I put this on the students with their backs to the screen would think their partner was lying the whole way through...who'd have thought for sweet little Pingu eh?! xxx
