Back at my dad's house now in good ol'Hampshire. It is nice having a bit of a break. I've been trying to throw out stuff and get organised. Soon my father's new fiance will be arriving and we'll need to make space for her.
As I have grown older I have become less and less materialistic. I have all that I need really and I don't make enough money to endlessly shop anyway. Many a year going to car boot sales has put me off spending...and yet...somehow(!) I still seem to acquire stuff. It is an endless battle sometimes. I was rather shocked when we loaded my dad's car on Saturday.
I've been going at it and I can now tell you I have:
2 large suitcases of clothes
2 smaller bags of clothes
1 box of socks/knickers etc
3 little boxes and one tool box of art supplies
1 box of books
2 boxes of admin stuff (files, uni work etc)
2 boxes of random stuff (like shoes, scarfs, ornaments etc)
a few small boxes of jewellery (like ornamental size)
1 large carrier bag of cosmetics
And this is at my dad's house...let's not go near my mum's garage. Gesh...I keep trying I tell you! I have thrown out 4 carrier bags worth of stuff and I have a box and a big bag of stuff for the car boot.
I think from now on I'm going to have to say to people at Christmas and Birthdays...please no! Just give me a cheque or feed me...really...
Besides sorting out things, I have taken time out to catch up on some of my favourite TV series, cook and catch up with friends. I went for a really delicious meal at the scenic Mill House in Hook last night with my old friend from the BBC. We had pork belly and I had a delicious summer fruit and red wine jelly with balsamic compote. There was also some late night dancing in Shoreditch at the weekend with a mixture of Uni and Bristol friends plus a trip to see a friend's new house that he has purchased in Leytonstone (very close to Stratford and the new Westfields shopping centre and Olympic Stadium).
I finally also got to see some of the Evil Dead trilogy, specifically - Army of Darkness and I'm quite excited about exploring the whole lot now. I love the mix of horror with comedy and there are some great one liners in there....
Not much else to report in my daily life...soon I will be off to Badminton College to the new challenge of teaching juniors (14-17 year olds). I've read through all the literature and it doesn't look too overwhelming but only time will tell! I'll try and keep you posted.
Take care! xxx
